This week I wanted to talk about the famous Colourpops! Well priced at $6 (£4.63) and tricky to get in the UK (up until Colourpop finally introduced worldwide shipping). They were written about a lot during the release of the Kylie lip kits because they were reported to have very similar formulations and ingredients.
I found that they are similar to Kylie’s Liquid mattes in the formula, however the packaging I found to be less in quality. The packaging has rubbed off and I can’t even see the Colourpop logo now, and my lipsticks all stay in an acrylic stand so it’s not like they’ve been moved about and damaged.
The formulation looks great and lasts until you eat, and then flakes off. I’ve found that if you apply over the top it goes thick and flakey, which is not a good look. You have to take off the original lipstick and then reapply which isn’t great if you haven’t got much time left on your lunch break. However, if you’re not eating and going on a night out they are brilliant. I wear my Colourpops mostly when I go clubbing (did I mention I’m a student?). I like the Colourpops because they are quite easy to blend together and this gives them an extra dimension, whereas Kylie’s lipsticks seem to dry faster for me. The other upside of these lipsticks, over Kylie’s, is the price! I could afford to buy seven lipsticks from Colourpop, but I only have three shades from Jenner’s range.
I definitely recommend the Colourpop matte lipsticks, and they really are not much different from my Kylie lipsticks, however, the Kylie lipsticks are definitely higher quality in the packaging.
Have you tried these? Let me know what you think of them and if you have any shade recommendations!
